The dictionary defines success as the accomplishment of an aim not necessarily the income you get from the accomplishment. While I won't deny most of the people who we would consider successful today normally have managed to obtain a pretty handsome income.
Is the income what's important though? Or is it more so the body of work that was accomplished to make you say this person is successful. For instance Plato, Aristotle, Jesus of Nazareth can you tell me their network or how much money they made over their lifetime(not likely) , but can you tell me what works they're remembered for(absolutely).
Do you kind of see where I'm going with this now? I can even take it a step further. Above I just listed people that you've heard of both them and their body of work before and I think we can all agree we would consider them successful, but how about people that you may be familiar with their work but not the person per say, however the ventures that they own/founded likely effect your life everyday.
Example, Does Fred DeLuca, Jack Crawford Taylor, or David Murdock names ring a bell? Most likely not, but it's very likely you use their products in your everyday life. Fred DeLuca is the founder of Subway. Jack Crawford Taylor is Enterprise Rent a Car's founder, and we can't forget David Murdock who's the sole owner of Dole Food company. Truth being told success is in the eye of the beholder and can be viewed in many different ways but the purpose of this article was to show that the monetized value is not the only avenue of determining if a person's successful or not.
